Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has urged Nigerian Muslims to exhibit the true spirit of peace and love in their daily dealings with men of all faith, saying Islam as a religion of peace abhors violence in whatever guise.
The Governor who congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the success of this year’s Ramadan urged them to inculcate the lessons learnt during the Ramadan fast to positively impact on their neighbours and the larger society.
In his Eid-el-Fitri message by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Okhiria, Comrade Oshiomhole said “I rejoice with the Muslim Ummah as it has pleased Almighty Allah to see us through the Holy month of Ramadan.
“Having observed strictly the injunctions of Almighty Allah by self-denial through fasting and prayers and by offering Zakat to the less-privileged, I urge the faithful not to forget the lessons learnt, to wit, the spirit of piety, alms-giving, of compassion and love for fellow men.
“We remember, as always, our country this season and I enjoin the faithful to continue to make supplications to Allah to heal our land of all ills and favour us with peace and progress.
“In Edo, we remain grateful to Almighty Allah as He has continued to bestow on us abundant mercies by bringing us out of the woods in which the state was plunged in the past and for engendering peaceful coexistence among people of different faith.
“I wish the Muslim Ummah happy Eid el-Fitri”.
IGP Greets Muslim At Sallah
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase has on behalf of the entire workforce of the Nigeria Police Force, extended his warm greetings to all Muslim faithful in Nigeria, while they join their fellow muslims worldwide to celebrate Eid-el-fitri which marks the end of Ramadan Fasting.
The Police High Command said it has put all measures in place to ensure hitch-free celebrations, as IGP has ordered effective and extensive deployment of personnel including movement of necessary logistics to all nooks and crannies in the country. He has equally mandated all Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Command Commissioners of Police to ensure adequate security with standard operation procedures before, during and after the celebrations to secure key and vulnerable points, Eid-praying grounds and other places of worship including public places and recreation centres.
According to a statement,the IGP while rejoicing with Muslim Umah, enjoins them to demonstrate and extend lessons of love, perseverance and tolerance, learnt during Ramadan fasting to their fellow citizens to enhance religious harmony, unity and peace. He further enjoins them to be vigilant and report any suspicious person or object at the nearest Police Station.
DG NOA Congratulates Muslims at Eid-El-Fitri.
The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Mike Omeri, has congratulated the entire Muslim Ummah in the country on the occasion of this year’s Eid-El-Fitri celebration, urging that the momentum of devotion in prayers should be sustained to complement President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts to achieve progress and defeat terrorism in the country.
Omeri, in a Sallah message to Muslim faithful, said it was necessary to live the attributes and virtues of the Ramadan beyond the holy month adding that the month long spiritual reflection should serve the nation well in connecting the effort of Nigerians to the plan of the Almighty for the country.
He further thanked the Muslim community for their efforts in using the holy month to promote the unity, cordiality and peace among all Nigerians regardless of their faith.
While wishing Muslims happy Eid-El-Fitr celebration, he also urged all Nigerians to remain vigilant during the festive period, saying security Agencies have put in place adequate measures to ensure safety of lives and property across the country.
NSCDC Boss Felitates with Muslim Faithful
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Dr. Ade Abolurin hails Muslim faithfuls for successful fasting and Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
He made this known during the Ramadan lecture organized by personnel at the NSCDC mosque.
He stressed that, the period of fasting and praying, should be seen as a time of reconciliation with Allah for forgiveness of sins, alms giving and interceding for peace and development in the nation.
Abolurin reechoed that what the nation needs at the moment is prayer in order to tackle the security situation and for God to give wisdom to the leadership of the nation in handling the challenges.
He advises faithful to live an exemplary life tailored to the teachings of the Prophet whom is the pillar of Islam.
In the same vein, he has directed Corps formations across the nation to carry out adequate deployment of personnel to all nooks and crannies for effective coverage of the environment to guarantee a hitch-free celebration.
In addition to the deployment of personnel, he charged the Commandants to deploy all other equipment such as surveillance vehicles, patrol vehicles, Ambulances, dogs and other monitoring gadgets
According to him, the areas to be covered includes, praying ground, supermarkets, markets, all critical infrastructure installations, black spots and other identified spots that are prone to attacks and vandalism.
While urging personnel to be civil and diplomatic in their approach towards members of the public, he also cautioned parents to warn their wards to desist from acts capable of breaching the peace of the nation as the law is no respecter of any one.
Senator Adeola Felicitates With Muslims, Urges Peaceful Coexistence And Prayers
As millions of Muslims conclude the religious observance of a month long fasting, the senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District Senator Solomon Adeola has congratulated Islamic religious adherents on the successful conclusion of the purifying exercise.
In a felicitation Eid el Fitri message to his Muslim constituents and other Nigerians, Senator Adeola prayed that Almighty Allah will answer the supplication of adherents of the Islamic faith as presented in the month of Ramadan adding that it is his hope that the spiritual lessons of Ramadan and the injunctions of Holy Prophets for love, peaceful co-existence, fairness, justice and tolerance will continue in their daily lives.
The senator called on Muslims to continue to pray for and support the new administration of President Mohammed Buhari to succeed in addressing the numerous problems confronting the nation adding that the country need divine direction and intervention to surmount the daunting challenges facing it.
In celebration of the end of Ramadan, Senator Adeola donated about 1000 bags of rice for the celebrations to his constituents spread across 10 Local Government Areas of the senatorial district.
Senator Gwarzo admonishes muslims to continue good deeds after Ramadan
The former Senate chief whip, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo has appealed to Muslims to continue to exhibit good deeds demonstrated during the Ramadan fast.
Senator Gwarzo in a press statement signed by his media Assistant, Ibrahim Garba, congratulated Muslims for religiously observing the Ramadan fast.
Gwarzo said ramadan period has afforded Muslims the opportunity of spiritual rejuvenation and communing with Allah while pouring their heart desire to him.
He therefore called on Muslim faithful to use the period to reflect on the security situation in the country and pray for peace to reign.
Senator Gwarzo admonished adherents of Islam to continue to pray for peace and stability of the nation, noting that lslam is a religion of peace.
Ensure Sustenance Of Ramadan Virtues Beyond Festivities – Ex-Gov. Daniel
As Moslems world over mark the end of fasting period, the immediate past governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has urged adherents of the faith to keep up with the virtues gained during the Ramadan period which included piety, patience, tolerance, perseverance, humility, self denial and service to humanity.
In his Eid-El-Fitri message to the people of Ogun State, Otunba Daniel tasked Moslem faithful in the state to embrace the spirit of love, forgiveness and brotherhood preached by Islam and other religions.
While congratulating muslims in the state on the successful observation of the Holy Month, he implored the people to celebrate the Id-El Fitri with moderation and in the spirit of Ramadan which encouraged peace and charity.
At the national scene, the former governor condemned the heinous activities of the Boko Haram sect that have sent thousands of people to early graves with impunity. The series of attacks by the group in the holy month of Ramadan, he stated, were not only appalling but evil. He then appealled to the people of the country to be full of prayers noting that Allah remains the only dependable defender in this turbulent period of our national life. He also challenged the international community to rise in support of Nigeria in the fight against terrorism.”
Advocating for unfettered unity, cooperation and dedication among Muslims and other religions as a way to foster development, brotherhood, love and overall national unity, Otunba Daniel also solicited prayers for those at the helm of affairs at different levels of governance in the country for divine wisdom to confront the myriads of challenges facing the nation for Nigeria to claim its rightful position in the comity of nations.
