It was an essential form of behavior at the Senate chamber on Wednesday when Senator Sunny Ogbuoji representing Ebonyi South aborted defection from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC) he started during the plenary.
The Senator who came through Senate order 43 (Personal Explanation) said he decided to leave his party due to intractable crises that have befallen the party both at State and National levels. “I have decided to leave my party due to intractable crises that have befallen the party both at State and National levels,” Ogbuoji said.
But before he could change his seating position, he was pulled back by other PDP lawmakers in the chamber. The situation resulted in a rowdy session. However calm was restored by the Senate President Bukola Saraki.
In continuation of his summation, Senator Ogbuoji said he has been advised by his colleagues that he should seek further consultation before taking his decision.
He added that due to the love shown to him by his colleagues, he would step down his intention. “I have been advised by my colleagues that I should seek further consultation before taking his decision. Due to the love shown to me by my colleagues, I have stepped down my intention” Ogbuoji said.
In his ruling, the Senate President Bukola Saraki said since he came under order 43 (Personal Explanation) there is room for further debate on the matter.
