The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has confirmed that it has begun to see performance in the settlement of Taleveras’ obligations with the corporation with respect to the Crude for Petrol Swap programme.
The confirmation was made by the Chief Operating Officer, Gas and Power in the Corporation, Mr Saidu Mohammed during an address to newsmen on Tuesday.
Mr. Mohammed said the NNPC, will continue to work hard to ensure that all outstanding matters as it relates to all companies for various activities, will be pursued and closed out.
When contacted, the acting Chief Executive Officer of Taleveras Oil and Gas Services Limited, Mr. Aliyu Jimeta said on Wednesday, in Abuja that “As a responsible company and one that has over the years made positive contributions to the Nigerian economy, Taleveras would do everything within its powers to promptly ensure its associated units close out on all outstanding issues with the NNPC”.
He further said ” the Company is keen to maintain its long standing relationship with the NNPC spanning close to 20 years”.
“We have commenced the settlement of all outstanding Matters with NNPC, and have demonstrated this by our actions. We have and are still contributing positively to Nigeria’s economy in various ways. We are a responsible corporate organization and intend to keep to all our commitments” he said.
The Group Managing Director (GMD) of the NNPC Mr. Maikanti Baru, had recently revealed the commitment of the corporation to close on the lingering issue as it relates to the Swap programme.
Part of the settlement agreement with all firms involved in the exercise extracted a commitment from Taleveras for a final settlement.
“In the case of Taleveras, they have agreed to make a tranche payment of $17 million,” he said, even as he commended the company for the prompt settlement of its obligations.
Baru said “the recovery exercise is a product of ongoing extensive reconciliation process with the companies involved namely: AITEO Energy Resource Limited, Ontario Oil and Gas Limited and Taleveras’ We have engaged them and positively too”.
