The Sokoto state governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has said that the Home Grown School Feeding Programme is beneficial to all Nigerians, irrespective of their social status.
He also said that it is on of the laudable programmes and policies initiated and successfully implemented by President Muhammadu Buhari.
A statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Bashir Rabe Mani issued in Sokoto quoted Aliyu Sokoto at have said this at Tureta town, headquarters of Tureta Local Government of the state, during the flag off of the party’s campaigns Sunday.
“Under the programme being implemented across Nigeria, including Sokoto State, all primary 1 to 3 pupils are being fed daily, while in schools, Monday through Friday .
“The pupils are being served with nutritious diets in all the menus. This has greatly reduced hunger and poverty ,contrary to some dastardly insinuations by some cynics in the state that, the President has done nothing for the people of the state.
“In the same vein, indigenes of the various communities , cooks and other service providers are being used as contractors under the programme , while the parents are routinely monitoring it,” he said.
According to Aliyu Sokoto, all those used as contractors and service providers under the programme, were being regularly paid directly into their bank accounts by the Federal Government.
Describing Senator Wamakko as an indisputable political leader in the state and the Northwest, he appealed to the people of the State to troop to the polling stations during the forthcoming general elections and massively vote for its candidates, at all levels.
Speaking, Senator Aliyu Wamakko lauded the people of Tureta Local Government and the entire state for their sustained support and cooperation to the party .
He further called on civil servants in the state to free themselves from the current bondage and flurry of intimidation by the incumbent PDP -led administration.
“All these would amount to nothing in the next few days, In Sha Allahu.”
While admonishing them not to be cowed down by the woeful intimidation, Senator Wamakko assured the civil servants that, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and his running mate, Faruku Malami Yabo, would surpass his achievements, when he was the Governor of the state, between 2007 and 2015, if elected.
The Chairman of the State Campaign Council, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi and the state Party Chairman, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida ,also appealed to the electorate in the State to massively vote for its candidates, at all levels, during the forthcoming general polls.
Doing so, the duo averred, was the sure ticket for the consolidation of the tangible achievements of Senator Wamakko, when he was the Governor of the state.
They further challendged the PDP -led state govenrment to showcase its achivenments in the last four years, if there are any .
The Sokoto South Senatorial District Campaign Committee Coordinator, Alhaji Umaru Nagwari Tambuwal assured that, the entire zone belongs to the APC and no any party exists in the area apart from it .
He cautioned people in the state , especially women , to be wary of some unscrupulous, unpatriotic and undemocratic elements who are going round the state , buying off Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs ).
Alhaji Umaru Nagwari Tambuwal averred that, doing so was a punishable, grievous offence against the nation’s constitution , as well as the Electoral Act, 2010, as amended .
The highlight of the ceremony was the defection of no fewer than 5000 members of the PDP, to the APC, from Tureta Local Government.
