Addressing troops shortly after taking over on Monday in Maiduguri, Eyitayo said as someone familiar with the terrain, he remained committed to do more on the successes recorded by his predecessor.
Eyitayo tasked the troops on more zeal and commitment needed to crushed the terrorists.
“What I need from you is ruggedness and boldness,” Eyitayo said.
Also speaking, the out-going GOC, Maj. Gen. Abdul Khalifa, thanked the troops for the support given him, adding that things had improved for the better.
“I therefore urge you to continue to be discipline, hardworking and courageous.
“Take the fight to the enemy (boko haram), contest the night with the enemy.
“The boko haram terrorists like to work at night, you must therefore carryout offensive operations at night..
“The new GOC is not new to the theatre. This is his third time of coming here.
“He has been a staff officer here and has led combat operations in this theatre and had done very well.
“His selection is very good and will add value to this operation,” Khalifa said. (NAN)
