Dr Agoso Bamaiyi, Chairman of Adamawa Assessment and Reconciliation Committee on Lunguda and Waja Communal Clash, has appealed for peace and support for the committee to succeed in its assignment.
He made the appeal on Wednesday in Lafiya while members of the committee were conducted round the areas affected by the clash
Some houses were destroyed in the clash between Lunguda and Waja communities in Lafiya village of Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.
The District Head of Lafiya, Mr Clement Minakaro, who lead the committee round, said many people were injured, while food and other valuables were destroyed.
Minakaro lauded government for setting up the committee and urged the affected communities to support and cooperate with it in finding lasting solution to the conflict.
Also, representative of Lunguda community, Mr John Monsimi and that of Waja Community, Mr Saleh Mairake, expressed regret over the incident and pledged the commitment of their people to work with the committee in resolving the conflicts through dialogue.
The News Agency Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Oct. 23 clash was said to be caused by a lingering land dispute. (NAN)
