An investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Madaki Yakubu, has said the anti-graft agency never declared the former Special Adviser on Niger Delta and Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Hon. Kingsley Kuku, wanted.
The EFCC witness stated this during cross-examination in a libel suit filed by Kuku against The Abuja Enquirer at a Federal Capital Territory High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Jude Okeke sitting at Court No 13, Maitama.
Yakubu while answering questions by Kuku’s lead counsel, C.I Okoye, who appeared with Solomon Tunyan, stated that Exhibit C, which was issued on Kuku in 2015, was actually a letter inviting him to the EFCC to be interviewed over issues contained therein.
After concluding his evidence as the last witness called by the defence in the case, the defendants applied to close its case and parties were ordered to file their final address.
The presiding judge adjourned the case to September 18, 2017 for adoption of final address.
Kuku in August 2015 dragged the newspaper before the court vide Suit No. FCT/CV/263 claiming N500 million damages for libel and defamation over its publication of July 27-August 2, 2015 that he was declared wanted by the EFCC and that he fled the country.
