Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state on Tuesday stopped an unruly driver from breaking traffic laws at a popular Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) roundabout in the metropolis.
The governor was driving himself home after office hours when the traffic light stopped him at the roundabout situated at Gawon Nama area of Sokoto.
At the same time, a middle aged man who was driving a Mercedes E350 model tried to shunt the queue to by-pass other road users.
In a swift move, Tambuwal drove out of the queue, stopped the offending driver and asked the driver to reverse his vehicle and return to his position on the queue.
He also admonished the young man to be disciplined and obey traffic rules at all times.
Impressed by what they saw, other road users commended Governor Tambuwal for setting example to other road users.
This is a commendable act that is aimed at passing the right message of discipline in the minds of the citizens, some of them said.
Newsdiaryonline recalls that traffic lights were installed at specific roundabouts in Sokoto metropolis in order to bring sanity, a gesture that many drivers and motorcycle riders disobey.
