A scholar and All Progressives Congress ,APC chieftain Mal. Muhammadu Sani has called on General Muhammadu Buhari not to content the Presidential election, instead he should endorse a young and dynamic person in order to ensure the victory of APC come 2015.
Speaking in an interview in Kaduna, Sani said, “We are calling on our Leader, General Buhari not to contest but to endorse a Youngman among the contestants.
He said General Buhari contested the number one seat in Nigeria three times and the PDP rigged him out three times, explaining that Buhari is a sincere and respected persons whose interest is to ensure peace and progress, is unfortunate PDP and its associate couldn’t allow Buhari to achieve his mission.
He said “Buhari is now 74 years (old), age is catching up with him. As a former head of state and elder statesman he needs rest and Special care.
Gen. Buhari said in 2011, “ I will not contest any election in Nigeria after the 2011 general elections” saying that as an elder, he should keep his promise.
Mal. Sani advised General Buhari to team up with other elders in Nigeria to ensure the victory of his anointed candidate in order to salvage Nigeria from total collapse economically, politically and socially etc.
However ,given General Buhari’s popularity across the country, especially in the north, the APC chieftain’s call is quite unusual .Buhari appears set to disregard such calls as his formal declaration is scheduled to hold Wednesday this week at the Eagle Sqaure in Abuja.
Buhari is expected to battle with Atiku Abubakar,Sam Nda Isaiah and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for the APC presidential ticket during the party’s forthcoming primaries.
