Emir of Borgu in Niger State inaugurates 15-man committee for Durbar

The Emir of Borgu in New Bussa, Niger State, Alhaji Muhammad Dantoro, has inaugurated a 15-man committee to plan the 6th edition of Gani Durbar in Borgu Emirate.

Dantoro stated on Friday that the committee under the chairmanship of Alhaji Ibrahim Goni, Conservator-General of National Parks Service, should activate focal agenda of the biggest cultural festival in North Central Nigeria.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Gani Durbar is an annual celebration that dates back to the 14 century.

The emir stated that he had also set up nine strategic subcommittees, covering finance, fund raising, accommodation, feeding arrangements, publicity, security, works, venue, protocol, events, sanitation and logistics.

Accepting the appointment, Goni, commended the emir for the trust and confidence reposed in the committees.

He called on members of the subcommittees to articulate detailed inputs that would improve the ranking of the festival on national and global cultural tourism maps. (NAN)
