FRSC tasks motorists on compliance with COVID-19 protocols

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS 11 Zonal Commander, Mr Emmanuel Abe, has tasked motorists on the use of face masks and compliance with all COVID-19 protocols.
Abe, the FRSC Zonal Commanding officer in Charge of Osun, Oyo and Ondo States, gave the charge on Tuesday when he paid a familiarisation visit to the Osun Sector Command of the corps in Osogbo.


Abe said, ” The commands under the zone will continue to intensify efforts towards ensuring that road users adhere strictly to the COVID -19 protocols to minimise the spread of the deadly disease.
“Our men have been working assiduously with various security agencies saddled with the responsibilities of enforcing strict compliance on the usage of face mask and social distancing.
“We have been partnering with some key stakeholders especially the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
“The zonal command will continue to engage transportation stakeholders through its enlightenment policies, campaigns and also strengthen its enforcement policies,” he said.


Abe also tasked the personnel under the zone to be professional in the discharge of their duties by being good ambassadors of the corps and take the command to enviable heights.
The FRSC zonal commander also warned officers in the zone against any form of indiscipline and corrupt practice stressing that anyone caught for misconduct would be sanctioned or even dismissed.

Abe also commended the efforts of the Osun Sector Commander, Mrs Kudirat Ibrahim, in the area discipline and her tireless effort towards ensuring that accidents were minimised in the state.
In her welcome remarks, Ibrahim, thanked the new zonal commander for the confidence reposed in her and promised to strengthen the operational tactics of the command.

Ibrahim said the command was able to rescue 243 persons in 68 road traffic accidents between January and February with only 29 deaths recorded.
“The accidents within this period was due to reckless driving, speeding, wrongful overtaking and total disobedience to Road Traffic Regulations.”


She added that 460 persons were involved in accidents within the period stipulated involving 105 vehicles with only 188 injured victims. (NAN)
