Two men were docked in a Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun on Thursday for alleged breach of peace and extortion.The police charged Ajobiewe Najeem,22 and Femi Oguntoyinbo, 23, whose addresses were not provided with three-counts of breach of peace, extortion and conspiracy.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Dec. 31 at about 5.50 p.m. under the bridge, Sango-Ota.Adaraloye said that the defendants also conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by harassing and extorting N9,500 from one Abass Isamail.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 249(d),390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code,Laws of Ogun,2006.They, however,pleaded not guilty to the charge.Magistrate A.O.Adeyemi admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.She adjourned the matter until Jan.17 for further hearing.(NAN)
