Malam Jibrin Ndace, Director-General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), has called for the support of the traditional rulers for the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Ndace made the appeal during his visit to the palace of Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, in Osogbo on Saturday.

The VON boss, while noting the commitment of the President to reposition the country, said the support of the traditional rulers for him was necessary at this critical period.

Ndace also appealed to the traditional rulers not to relent in their prayers for the President and the country, adding that “Nigeria will rise again.”

He noted that all the policies and programmes put in place by the Tinubu’s administration were not to bring hardship to the citizens but towards ensuring economic prosperity for Nigerians.

“Your support for the President at this critical period of our country is important.

“With your support and prayers, the President will succeed and Nigeria will rise again,” he said.

Ndace also urged the media to always write and share positive stories about Nigeria.

“Nigeria and Africa are not perfect, but there are good stories coming out of Nigeria and Africa on a daily basis.

“We must understand, especially those of us in the traditional, public and private media organisations, that we are in the age of misinformation, disinformation, fake news and sometimes outright lies about our country, about our people, our culture and continent.

“Therefore, as journalists, we have the responsibility to create believable, truthful and timely narratives about our country.

“As VON DG, working with my team, we want to take the lead in reshaping the positive narratives about Nigeria.

“I am determined with my team to be deliberate and intentional about sharing good stories about Nigeria and Africa,” he said.

In his response, Oba Olanipekun commended the VON DG for the visit, adding that traditional rulers in the country would continue to support and pray for the President.

Earlier, Ndace interacted with members of staff of VON in the South-West Zone and visited the Osun-Osogbo groove. (NAN)
