The Senate has reversed itself on its resolution earlier urging Ms. Stella Oduah ,Minister of Aviation to appear before its plenary for a briefing on the incessant air crashes in Nigeria
Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, had on Thursday moved a motion titled “Rescission of Senate resolution on the invitation of the Minister of Aviation to brief the Senate ” It was seconded by Deputy Minority Whip, Senator Ganiyu Solomon.
Ndom a-Egba e prayed the Senate to resolve to rescind its resolution earlier that the Minister of Aviation should brief the Senate at plenary.
Also, he urged the Senate to resolve that the Minister should brief the Senate Committee on Aviation on the state of Aviation sector and and the recurrent crashes.
His two two prayers were subsequently adopted unanimously after Senate President, David Mark,asked “any comment from anybody?” This question was trailed by a utter silence from the senators.
Speaking with reporters later Senator Hope Uzodinma some fresh issues have cropped up “which required a holistic and well programmed investigation.”
Continuing,Uzodinma said “as it is the practice of the Senate such investigation is better handled by the committee and reported submitted to the plenary for consideration.”
He added,“This is exactly what the Senate has just done, and I think it is in order, it is proper and it is in accordance with Senate rules,” he said.
