A retired Permanent Secretary, General Services, Office the Secretary to the Government of Federation, Mr. Charles Bonat, has declared readiness to contest for the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) .He has also expressed his dissatisfied with poor representation of those that have represented his constituency so far . Bonat said he wants to give quality representation to the people of Kaura Federal Constituency of Kaduna state in the lower House.
Bonat who arrived APC secretariat situated at Ali Akilu Way, Kaduna around10: 57am in company of hundreds of his supporters was received by party officials said change in the entire state is inevitable.
The civil servant who retired three months ago after 35 years of successful civil service said “I am here to affirm the demand for change in Kaduna state, change is inevitable and we are all pursuing it because of the situation we are in today.
His words: “On my own, I was inspired to come out because we are dissatisfied with poor representation on ground in my constituency and we want to change the situation. I am coming with series of experience gathered in civil service at both state and federal levels and so we are determined to do it.”
The retired perm sec who was secretary to Kaduna state Government 1998 to 2003 said, “My coming into APC is to prove to all our people that change is inevitable and we should come together through APC and change our situation. No one should feel isolated or rejected, let us come out and do the needful and free ourselves from the mess we are in now.”
The State Party Chairman, Hon. Bala Bantex said “we are happy that people like you have not only joined us in APC but aspiring for elective position.We are privilege and honored and wish you goodluck.”
Bonat was born on 1st February, 1956 in Kagoro, Kaura local government of Kaduna state; he holds a degree in political science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and masters’ degree in public administration from University of Jos in 1977 and 1987 respectively and was Secretary to Kaduna State Government from 1998 to 2003 before he transferred his service to Federal Civil Service.
Charles Bonat joined the civil service of Kaduna state in September, 1978 as a local government inspector and has since then, worked as principal Assistant secretary to the Deputy Governor, 1981 to 1983;acting chief local Government Inspector 1989 to 1990; chairman caretaker committee, Ikara Local Government 1990; Sole administrator Sabon Gari Local Government 1991; Director political and Economic Affairs Governor’s Office 1992 to 1994; Director-General, Bureau for Animal and forest Resources 1994 to 1997; Director-General, Department for local Government Affairs, 1997; Permanent Secretary Government House Kaduna 1997 to 1998 and SSG 1998 to 2003.
He chaired several committee in the state, among which are Tasks Force on Recovery of looted Government Property in Kaduna state 1993 to1994; Kaduna state Executive council verification committee on creation of additional traditional Institutions in Kaduna state 2001 which gave birth to the creation of over 21 additional Chiefdoms.
He voluntarily transferred his service from Kaduna state to the federal civil service in order to acquire more experience.
While at the federal civil service, he facilitated the recruitment of over 110 indigenes of Kaduna state into federal Agencies.
