A pro-Namadi Sambo group, Sambo Independent Youth Vanguard (SIYV) has surprisingly endorsed the election of Dr Musa Babayo as the North East consensus candidate for National Chairman of the PDP.The North East yesterday humiliated President Goodluck Jonathan’s candidate Bamanga Tukur who polled only 2 votes.
Newsdiaryonline reported that the influence of the governors of the zone, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar played a great role in the emergence of Babayo.But Atiku’s aides said he had nothing to do with it since he had travelled out of the country and he is not expected back until Friday.
However, the Sambo group has issued a statement endorsing Babayo. “We, members of the Sambo Independent Youth Vanguard (SIYV) received with joy the selection of the immediate past National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Musa Babayo as the consensus candidate of the entire people of the North East geo-political zone for the position of National Chairman of the PDP”.
“We salute the courage of the Zonal National Vice Chairman, Paul Wampana for the courage he and the other 20 North East Caucus members that endorsed the candidature of Babayo over the other aspirants, who in their own rights are also eminently qualified and experienced to climb the saddle as the PDP national chairman.
“We commend all the aspirants who have accepted the verdict of out North East leaders on the choice of who shall be presented before delegates to the national convention of PDP for his final endorsement this Saturday at Eagles Square in Abuja.

Babayo will no doubt be able to properly reposition the PDP and make it stronger as the nation gradually prepares for the challenges of the 2015 general election which the PDP-led federal government has assured Nigerians will be as free, fair and credible as the 2011 election won by President Goodluck Jonathan and our principal, Vice President Namadi Sambo.
The in-coming National chairman has garnered enough experience since 2008 when he assumed office as the Deputy National Secretary of PDP before PDP leaders elevated him to the position of Acting National Secretary because of his dedication to duty, hardwork and loyalty to the party.
Members of the Sambo Independent Youth Vanguard wish to assure Musa Babayo of our total support for his administration as he steers the ship of the biggest political party in the entire African continent.
