Ahead of October 20th, 2012 governorship election in Ondo State, Osun State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has strongly condemned the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for leaving the constitutional business of governing the state for another State politics by leading all the members of his cabinet for the political campaign for six days in Ondo State.
Labour Party (LP also faulted and accused Aregbesola and his team in the administration of the state for committing huge resources of good people of the State into political jamboree of his party in Ondo State, saying that all their involvement in Ondo politics are effort in futility which has no benefit or importance of the good governance that the people of the State are yearning for from the Action Congress of Nigeria led state government since its inception in November, 2012.
This was contained in a statement jointly issued and signed by the Caretaker Committee’s Chairman and Secretary of the Labour Party (LP) in Osun State, Messers Daniel Bankole Afilaka and Segun Arogundade respectively which a copy was made available to newsmen today in Osogbo, they described the action of Governor Aregbesola on Ondo State politics as illegal, unconstitutional, anti-masses, evil, barbaric and ungodly which should be jointly condemned by the progressive minded people of the State.
The party said, “Since inception of Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola’s government in Osun State, the administration has been a disaster for the people of the state as all the sectors of the state have been affected negatively. It is a surprise that Aregbesola who claimed to be progressive of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s school of thought and epitome of good governance could stay away from his constitutional duty for a frivolities and illegality for a week without considering the paramount interest of the people of the State he sworn to govern.
This shows the level of insensitivity of the governance on the part of Aregbesola’s administration.
“Our party also strongly condemned this illegal act of Governor Aregbesola led Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) government in the State for insubordination into political activities and reckless spending of the state resources to dislodge another State governor and it also a shame on the sensibility of the people of the State that their governor and his team could abandon their various official duty posts for a week for illegal political assignment, all in the name of dislodging constitutional government. We want to tell the whole word that Aregbesola’s name should enter the Guinness book of records as lazy, focussless and visionless governor ever produced in any state of the federation particularly in Osun State since its creation 21 years ago”.
“Had( it) been Aregboesola and his team have something to offer the good people of Osun State or serious about the governance of the State, we at the Labour Party (LP) in the State believe that they would not abandon their official duty posts illegally which they sworn to uphold for a week and this is a constitutional breach of highest order and (betrayal) of social contract with the people of Osun State”, they added.
We want to use this opportunity to call on the State House of Assembly through its Speaker, Honourable Najeem Folashayo Salaam to commence the impeachment notice of the State governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola for constitutional breach which against the tenets of democracy and good governance within seven days, saying that failure on the part of the Assembly will make the party to lead other members of the society including artisans, market men and women, civil servants, labour leaders, students among others to protest against the reckless and unjust spending of the State resources on Ondo politics.
“On the alleged N4billion of State resources (earmarked) to (be) spent on Ondo politics; we want to urge Governor Aregbosola to boldly come out to tell the whole world the total amount of the State resources being spent illegally so far on Ondo State/Akeredolu election bid because this ungodly step has seriously affecting the meager resources accrue (sic)to the state from federation account.
“We want to make it clear that “Aregbesola and his team should be cautioned and stopped from creating crisis in peaceful state like Ondo, he should rather concentrate on providing good governance and dividend of democracy for the good people of Osun State and we will like to also urge the people of the state particularly its founding fathers and well meaning people of the State at home and abroad to call them to order on Ondo forthcoming governorship election”
Osun Labour Party (LP) is also using this medium to call on the people of Ondo State not to mind the invasion Governor Aregbesola and his co-travelers with resources of Osun State but to vote Governor Olusegun Mimiko for second term in office so as to allow him (Mimiko) to continue the good work for the good people of Ondo State, the statement said.
