A close observer of Kaduna State politics does not need a ‘prophet’ or a clairvoyant to know that with Shehu Sani’s current war with the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai he does not stand the slightest chance of being nominated to run for a second term on the platform of the APC.
Shehu Sani, currently representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has been embroiled in a running fight with el-Rufai which would in the very least seal his bid to return to the Senate next year.
With Sani obviously on his way out of the match and out of the cup; with a grudge to settle, naturally – the race for the Kaduna central senate seat is bound to be a clear but unequal fight two men.
One one hand would be Uba Sani, a generally derided politician with a very weal grassroot appeal going into the ring with much of the burden for the serial misrule and high-handedness of the el-Rufai government which he serves.
Uba Sani is as far detatched from Kaduna political elites as he is from the masses and thus lacks the necessary support to win over the local peoples of Kaduna Central Senatorial District.
On the other hand, would be Mr LA. young, dynamic, caring and liberal, with immense grassroots appeal; a man who shuns divisive politics, is supportive of the masses, outright and down to earth. Alhaji Lawal Adamu aka Mr LA, possesses a rare blend of the wisdom of the old and the dynamism of the younger generation.
His chief qualities are his characters that are natural, often backed by skills, experiences, intelligence, integrity, with instincts – all combined together to achieve his goals, and the overall happiness of the people he aspires to represent.
LA’s best selling point as a politician is honesty, which makes him trustworthy and reliable; he captures the essence of truth, displays sincerity and practices what he preaches.
He makes decisions, accepts responsibility for his actions and his words, derives joy in expending energy and personal resources on serving people while firmly believing that a fulfilling and meaningful life is created through service to others.
Quite unlike Uba Sani or any of the lightweight guys counting with him in the PDP, Mr LA’s followers have enormous trust in him as he has long ago built trust by displaying good sense of character and qualities composed of values, beliefs, traits and skills.
Another important trait that stands Mr LA out is integrity and inherent technical skills to handle challenging moments, issues, plans, projects, ideas and to initiate solutions to problems. Integrity, to him, is simply a matter of consistency of actions, methods, measures, values, principles, expectations and outcomes.
He cherishes doing what is right, both legally and morally at all time even when no one is looking, a quality that endears him to people.
Another point that stands him out as the current thrill of Kaduna politics, is his belief that since politicians are expected to play very significant roles in the administrative processes, especially having hands in policies in their communities, state and country, they should be modest and must have experience in social welfare, volunteering or should have done some good work for the society.
Having a thorough knowledge and up-to-date information about his political constituency, Mr LA is known to be prompt in providing most of its immediate needs from his own purse. His disciplined personality with selfless service to make life better for his people is visibly reflected in his various empowerment initiatives for the community where he lives in all ramifications.
He has taken it upon himself to offer hundreds of community skill acquisition opportunities, sponsored the education of hundreds hundreds of indigent children and women and put smiles on the faces of many more families within communities that make up his constituency.
He does all these out of sheer conviction that a good aspiring politician enriches lives, and that selfless service is putting the welfare of the people you’re representing before your own.
Mr LA firmly believes in taking care and maintaining the community of his people, insisting that community service is about giving back. This is in contrast to most other self-seeking politicians in the state and their agents who capitalise on the exploitation of cleavages of religious and ethnic nature to cause artificial divisions among the people.
With these intimidating credentials, Mr LA’ victory across the seven local government areas of Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Birnin Gwari, Igabi, Kajuru, Chikun and Giwa is already concluded over the hoards of opportunistic opponents from outside and within his party..
