The remains of Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Alhaji Hamzat Isa who died on Sunday Sunday at the National Hospital, Abuja were on Monday buried in his home town Sokoto.
Isa died at the aged 71 following a brief illness.
The funeral prayer was conducted at the Sultan Bello Juma’at Mosque, Sokoto, and was led by the Chief Imam of the Mosque, Sheikh Malami Bello-Akwara.
The prayer was attended by dignitaries including Gov. Aminu Tambuwal, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Bashir Garba, among others.
Also in attendance were the Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Junaid, members of the Sultanate Council of Sokoto and members of the State Executive Council, as well as members of the State House of Assembly.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Murtala Mani, traditional rulers and Islamic Clerics were also in attendance.
The deceased was a former Special Adviser on Security Matters to the state governor, he was also a one-time Commissioner for Commerce, as well as Home Affairs in the state.
He is survived by three wives, 10 children and many grandchildren.(NAN)
