Sen. Ned Nwoko (APC-Delta) has described the late leader of PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark, as a fiercely loyal and courageous person who stood for what the region believed in and never wavered.

Pan Niger Delta Development Forum (PANDEF) is the umbrella body of the traditional rulers, leaders, and stakeholders in the coastal states of the Niger Delta.

Nwoko, according to a statement he issued in Abuja on Tuesday, said this when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late statesman on Monday.

According to the senator, it is hard to imagine the South-South without Clark, adding that he was fiercely loyal, and fiercely courageous.

”He stood for what we believed in and never wavered. Sometimes, when I speak, I think of him, his resilience, and his audacity.

”A man who could have been easily swayed by power, yet he chose to lead the fight against corruption.

”His memory amazes me. He had his own mind; never mixed facts; and even in his 90s, his clarity was unmatched.

”He was different. There will never be another like him. I don’t know anyone as bold, as fearless, or as deeply patriotic,’’ Nwoko said.

He noted he hoped Clark would be immortal, saying his passing did not seem real.

“Until the very end, his mind was sharp, his spirit unshaken. May his kind soul find eternal rest. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered,’’ Nwoko added. (NAN
