The Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN), under its corporate social responsibility on Tuesday, donated N5.2 million drugs and other items to six Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) in Wamakko local government area of Sokoto State.

The company’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Alhaji Sada Suleiman said at the presentation of the items that CCNN’s gesture was aimed at complementing the efforts of Sokoto state government in enhancing healthcare delivery.

Suleiman added that CCNN has been assisting the state in the provision of potable water, electrification, rural roads, health-care, education, women and youth empowerment in the host communities.

While explaining that the drugs were for children and pregnant mothers in recognition of present climatic condition and peoples’ needs, the manager said the assistance was an expansion from two PHCs to Gidan Kusu, Wajenka, Sabon Garin Alu, Arkilla, Mobile Police clinic and Kalambaina primary health centres.

Suleiman said that CCNN would partner with the Ministries of Health and Education to identify areas of need for prompt intervention.

Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Corporate and Social Responsibility, Alhaji Faruk Suwidi said at the event that the intervention would enhance access to healthcare services as well as reduce the burden on families.

Representatives of the six PHCs collected the drugs.
