The Nigerian Security Civil Defense Corp ( NSCDC) Commandant General ,Dr Ade Abolurin has stated that bunkering is a sabotage on the government by host community in their various region. He made this assertions during the NSCDC assignment at Sauka Airport road Abuja on Monday.
Dr. Ade lamented that “bunkering is a sabotage on the government because of the wary and communal clashes in various region. Communities who lobby for contract in order to control or protect the pipelines and if one community got it at the expense of the other it becomes a problem in the region. We can recollect the explosion and vandalisation of pipelines recently, the scenario that happens of late in Delta and Lagos state”.
“We have seen over time that the conventional approach is becoming outdated and that is why we are bringing on a new strategy based on the used of technology as well as further enlargement of collaboration with other agencies that matters. This year alone our we made 250 direct arrest and 100 indirect arrest by the military and joint task force, we have prosecuted 35 people and some have been sentenced between 1 year and 30 years “, he said.
He added that the use of technology is a historical approach ,” and I think they will be a positive change in that regard. We have sufficiently trained our personnel and it’s a continuous process” he said.
Ade claimed that” we have acquired drones, presently we have nothing less five hundred, in terms of aircraft we will get to the level very shortly by the special grace of God. Because currently as we speak we are still experimenting in the riverine areas” he extolled.
