British Police on Tuesday said that they were investigating allegations of sexual assault from seven women against disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

While they did not identify Weinstein by name, London’s Metropolitan Police said its officers were “investigating allegations of sexual assault from seven victims under Operation Kaguyak.’’

Operation Kaguyak was set up by the city’s police force to probe allegations against Weinstein.

The 11 offences detailed by the seven women date from the late 1980s to 2015, with most alleged to have taken place in London, police said, adding that “there has been no arrest at this stage.’’

The claims add to dozens of allegations of rape and other sexual abuse perpetrated by Weinstein in the United States.

British actress Lysette Anthony gave an account earlier this month of how Weinstein allegedly attacked her in her London home in the late 1980s. Calling the incident “pathetic’’ and “revolting,’’ Anthony told the Sunday Times that she had reported it to British police.
Speaking to reporters in New York last week, Norwegian-born actress and model Natassia Malthe accused Weinstein of raping her in a London hotel room in 2008. (dpa/NAN)
