#TrackNigeria: Residents of Wah-Abbi community in Ukwani local government area of Delta have fled their homes for alleged recent killings and attacks by herdsmen

Though no arrest has been made by the police against the herdsmen’s continued attacks and destruction of farmlands and crops.

But the community’s spokesman, Ojiugbeli Anthony told journalists in Asaba that the rate at which herdsmen had been killing unsuspecting residents of the community, was disturbing.

“Herdsmen killings in my community has been unbecoming and I am calling for more vigilance and unity not just among Owah Abbi people but all Deltans.

“Many of the residents have fled their homes for fear of the unknown. We want the Police and other security agencies to redouble their efforts with a view to curbing the frightening situation in Owah Abbi community,” he said.

Anthony said it was painful that three young men who had gone to their farms were allegedly murdered by the herdsmen over disagreement on farmlands destruction.

He disclosed that the community would ensure that the police investigated and unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings of the men, adding that the Obiaroku Divisional office had been notified of the development.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovuwakpoyeya said the police was working hard to ensure those behind the killings were arrested and charged to court.
