A shocking twist has emerged in alleged Boko Haram killings in Maiduguri Borno state.Just a day after Boko Haram reportedly offered to embark on peace talks with the federal government, a prominent Nigerian and retired General Muhammadu Shuwa has been killed in Maiduguri.
The Joint Task Force (JTF), in Maiduguri reportedly announced that the General was killed by men suspected to be Boko Haram .
Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, JTF revealed in a statement that Shuwa was killed in his house by four men The four men were actually thought to be guests who came for Friday prayers.They reportedly gained access to the house and shot the General and his visitors.
“One of the guests died on the spot while the general died on the way to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital,”Sagir said.
The killing of General Shuwa,a civil war hero is sending shock waves across the north as people have been calling one another trying to confirm if indeed the news true.
