The Daura Local Government Council in Katsina State says it is targeting 86,599 children in the ongoing polio immunisation campaign.
Malam Ahmed Murtala, the council’s Director of Primary Health Care, made this known in Daura on Saturday.
He said his office has received delivery of 90,500 doses of vaccine for the exercise which would cover the 11 electoral wards in the area.
According to him, 354 personnel had been trained and engaged for the four-day exercise.
Murtala said “We have 73 teams for house-to-house coverage, 29 special teams and 24 fixed posts.
“We would do a one-day mop up exercise to ensure full coverage.”
He called on parents to avail their children for the immunisation.
He said there has never been a report of rejection or outbreak of polio in any part of the area.
“I attribute the efforts of government, traditional rulers and religious leaders for the successes so far recorded,” he said.
NAN reports that the last national polio immunisation in Daura was conducted in October 2017 in which 86,164 children were immunised. (NAN)
