Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed an attack by suspected oil bunkerers on Nembe Jetty, near Ogolomabiri Community in Bayelsa State .
Acting Director of Defence Information,Colonel Rabe Abubakar said in a statement that the incident is being investigated just as moves have commenced to arrest the perpetrators.
Rabe’s statement Saturday said the “Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed the (incident) that happened in our location at Nembe Jetty, near Ogolomabiri Community in Bayelsa State, where suspected oil bunkerers attacked our location.
He disclosed that “The incident is being investigated and the Joint Task Force Operation PULO SHIELD has moved into action to arrest and apprehend the perpetrators of this unpatriotic and callous attacks. The military will deal decisively with anybody or group involved in this and similar acts of attacks or sabotage on the nation’s economy.
The statement also advised members of the general public in the affected community are to go about their normal business activities just as it solicited their cooperation by given timely information to the military or any other security agencies to avert future recurrence of this ugly incident.
Also,DHQ reiterated its commitment toward ensuring the protection of lives and properties of innocent citizens nationwide.
