Though he is out of office, former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro maintains that he will continue to work harder for the betterment of the Country.
Comrade Moro speaking in Abuja after receiving the Award for Excellence In Public Service conferred on him by the nationalTRAIL newspapers urged the newspaper to be in the forefront in the fight against corruption and equally to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in the fight. He added that corruption is an evil which has stunted the growth of Nigeria.
He pledged to continue to be of service to the Country saying “I have a permanent office as citizen of Nigeria even if I have left office as Minister. As long as I am alive, I will continue to assist in the creation and re-creation of the dreams of Nigerians and in its development. Reconstruction of Nigeria is the responsibility of all Nigerians”
The former Minister pointed out that the current challenges facing the Country confronts every Nigerian stated his determination to support the Buhari-led government achieve its objectives. He noted that though he belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, he remains first and foremost a Nigerian and also as Nigerians, the members of the All Progressive Congress, APC have a right to leadership of the nation.
Moro who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Jane Ori Moro and others explained that in his support for the Buhari administration, he will criticise when necessary and if need be, offer solutions to problems of the Country in order to build a virile Nation.
He applauded the nationalTRAIL for the honour, describing the newspaper as a very, very significant part of his story as Minister. “In all my interactions with nationalTRAIL, I see a newspaper anchored on truth, fairplay and justice. It is a newspaper that most times jettisons sensationalism and reaches out to present to readers very analytical feature and topical news. The former Minister said the award coming after he had left office vindicated him as it took cognisance of his journey in public service. “This award will add as impetus to building a greater Nigeria. Life is only meaningful when it impacts on others and I believe God gives us positions so we can use it to better the lives of others.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the chairman and Editor-In-Chief of nationalTRAIL, Mr. Inuwa Bwala explained that the former Minister is being honoured because he had touched lives and in line with the newspaper’s philosophy, leaders who had touched lives should be appreciated. He further expressed hopes that the award will spur him to greater achievement, adding that the award was deliberately not conferred on him while he was in office.
In his remarks at the occasion, the Publisher\Editor-In-Chief of Newsdiaryonline.com, Alhaji Danlami Nmodu described Comrade Moro as a man of strong ideals.He urged him to ensure that his experience in government is used towards the advancement of the Nigerian youth.
