The National Defence Council has reviewed the emergency rule imposed on Adamawa,Borno and Yobe States during a meeting on Monday.It also decided to request for extension of the state of emergency in those states for another six months.
President Goodluck Jonathan presided over the council’s meeting which was held at the State House today.All the Service Chiefs,Inspector General of Police and the Minister of Justice as well as the National Security Adviser among others were at the meeting
Mr Mohammed Bello Adoke, minister of Jutice and attorney general of the federation who spoke with newsmen after the meeting on Monday announced the council’s approval of the extension of emergency rule in the state.The president had on May 20 this year renewed the emergency rule for six months.
Adoke said :”We just reviewed the issue of the state of emergency and the government would be requesting the National Assembly to extend” .
He also hinted that the president would immediately forward the request for the extension of emergency rule in the three states to the National Assembly
