The Restoration Party of Nigeria (RPN) candidate for Aba South, in Abia House of Assembly, Mr Goodluck Ibem has cautioned the people of the South East against boycott during the forthcoming election.

Ibem made the call in an interview in Aba on Monday.

“Such thoughtless action amount to defrauding and disenfranchising the zone of its political right.

“Any South Easterner who refused to vote in the forthcoming election should know that he or she has thrown away the zone’s political right to question political leaders in the next dispensation.

“You know that people are misplacing priorities when they say there will be no election in the South East.

“You cannot say there will be no election in this part of Nigeria when you are in Nigeria,’’ he said.

Ibem urged individuals or groups who had issues to sort out with government to do so within the ambit of the law.

“If you want to protest anything, you are free to do so but you cannot say there will be no election. We are in Nigeria and we must obey the laws of the country.

“I will advise those who feel they should not vote to try and vote because they cannot be talking of not voting when other zones are voting.

“Otherwise, after the election, the people that voted will benefit from the election but the South East will not.

“And such persons should know that they will not have right to complain because they said they are not part of the system and so they cannot complain about a system they are not part of,” he said.

Ibem said that his motive for seeking election into the state House of Assembly is to ensure that residents of Aba South get their dues from both the state and the Federal Government.

He promised to tackle issues of multiple taxation, bad roads among others if elected in the March 2, election. With reports by (NAN)
