Mr Murtala Balteh, the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) candidate for Zungur, Galanbi and Miri State Constituency in Bauchi, has pledged to increase youths’ involvement in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Balteh, who is contesting the seat in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, made this promise in Bauchi on Thursday in an interview.
He expressed the hope that encouraging youths in the 12 wards in his constituency to embrace business activities would reduce unemployment and youth restiveness in the area.
“If elected, I will ensure that the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) encourage existing and new business ideas, to create jobs and reduce the burden of depending on government.
‘‘Our youths are determined to become self-reliant and if elected, I will work on such issues.
‘‘In Zungur, Galambi and Miri State Constituency, we have vibrant youths, who can improve on the state’s Gross Domestic Product if they are trained,” he said.
Balteh also promised that the state would enact laws to promote grassroots development that would have positive impacts on the citizenry. (NAN)
