The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has allocated 1,487 seats to Jigawa for 2018 Hajj.
Alhaji Hashim Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer, jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, disclosed the figure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Saturday.
Ibrahim said that the board had distributed the seats to the 27 local government areas, adding that the screening of prospective pilgrims was ongoing.
The spokesman further said that the board had also taken a Pre-Hajj visit to Saudi Arabia, where it secured a befitting accommodation for its intending pilgrims.
He said the board was collecting one million naira from intending pilgrims as deposit pending the announcement of the 2018 Hajj fare by NAHCON.
Ibrahim added the board set May 31, as closing date for the payment of the deposit.
He disclosed that the airlift of the intending pilgrims from the state would commence on July 14. (NAN)
