Strike by workers in the French gas and electricity sector has reduced electricity output by 1,000 megawatts (MW) on Thursday, data by electricity grid operator RTE showed.
Power generation at French state-controlled utility EDF’s 1,300 MW Golfech 1 reactor was reduced to 900 MW due to the strike, RTE said.
Output was cut to zero at Uniper’s 595 MW Provence 5 coal-fired generator, it added.
France’s far-left CGT labour union called for the 24-hour strike over a pay dispute. (Reuters/NAN)
