Labaran-Maku 600Information Minister Mr. Labaran Maku has strongly condemned the bomb blast at EMAB plaza in Wuse II, Abuja, which killed scores of people and injured many.
Mr. Maku who observed that the Abuja bomb blast occurred simultaneously with another bomb explosion in Mubi, Adamawa State, said the Federal Government is deeply saddened by these dastardly acts of murder against innocent Nigerians.
The Minister said the insurgents’ attempt to intensify the spate of bombings and killings in parts of the country was calculated to distract and intimidate the President and his government as the 2015 elections draw nearer. Every time there is any major positive development in the country,it is quickly greeted with bombs and attacks on defenceless citizens. Every milestone recorded by government is followed by explosions and attacks to discourage the citizens and to turn them against the government.
Mr. Maku called for unity among Nigerians in this trying moment in order to isolate and defeat the insurgents who are bent on creating panic and dividing the people with the aim of casting President Jonathan and his government in bad light.
He appealed to Nigerians to step up vigilance and report any suspicious persons and movements to the appropriate authorities for prompt action. For us to defeat terror, every citizen must be involved. Citizens should cooperate with security agencies by monitoring persons and developments in their environment to help prevent attacks on innocent souls.
He commiserated with the bereaved and the injured and said the government feels their pain and the loss of dear ones whose only sin was that they went out peacefully to pursue their daily livelihood only to be murdered by fellow citizens with whom they have no disagreement or dispute.
This is not Nigerian; it is completely sad and we must all resolve to do our little bits to rid our country of these horrific attacks on our people.
