As the nation mourns the death of two prominent citizens today,President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said he received with sadness news of the death of the Second Republic Deputy Governor of old Ondo State, Chief Akin Omoboriowo. The President who described Chief Omoboriowo as a politician who was not afraid to stand for his political beliefs, expressed his deepest condolences to his widow,family and the government and people of Ekiti State.
Jonathan enjoined the Omoboriowo family members to take solace in the fact that the late politician lived a fulfilled and God-fearing life to a good old age, while praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the unfortunate loss.
Also the president said he received with shock reports of the sudden death of the mother of the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Hajiya Aisha B. Abubakar in a Cairo, Egypt hospital today after a brief illness.The President who described the late Hajiya Aisha Abubakar as a devout Muslim, commended her commitment to the welfare needs of the less-privileged in her community.
As the remains of late Hajiya Aisha Abubakar will be interred tomorrow in Gusau, Zamfara State according to Islamic rites, President Jonathan commiserated with the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed D. Abubakar and other family members, and prayed Almighty God to grant the soul of their late mother eternal repose.
