Mathew Hassan Kukah, Bishop of Sokoto Diocese today led a multitude of his followers in protest against the abducted Chibok girls.
The Bishop who protested from the Catholic Church on Ahmadu Bello Way, went took the Emir Yahaya roundabout through to New Road and back to the Church.
Kukah told Newsdiaryonline, which ran into the protest that the bit the Church could do was pray for God to touch the heart of the abductors.
“Prayers is the bit that we can offer for the freedom of the abducted girls. That is our weapon with which we can fight for their release,” he said.
Identifying corrupt governance as the bane of what has befalen the nation, the Bishop said that there more that government must do to ensure justice and equitable distribution of national wealth.
“Government must fight corruption with the sincerity it deserves. Government must not be of the few. It is the responsibility of government to ensure equity, justice and fair-play. The lack of these if what breads social vices such as what we are witnessing today,” Kukah further said.
Hundreds of Catholic church members queued behind the Bishop apparently when Pope Francis joined the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, calling for Chibok schoolgirls’ immediate release.
