Nigeria’s new President,Muhammadu Buhari and the vice President ,Professor Yemi Osinbajo will take the oath of office today May 29 at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
Their rise to power is significant because they contested the presidential election on the platform of opposition All Progressives Congress ,APC and defeated an incumbent president,Goodluck Jonathan who ran on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
As Buhari’s reign as president begins, it’s the end of the road for President Jonathan who quits office and returns to Otuoke, his village in oil rich Bayelsa state in the Niger Delta.
Jonathan will be accompanied home by his supporters some of whom were told to gather at Port Harcourt Airport Friday morning.From Port Harcourt, he will proceed to Yenagoa.
A thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday by Jonathan ,it was learnt.
Jonathan’s vice President Namadi Sambo is expected to return to Kaduna and begin his new life out of power.
