The much expected gubernatorial election election result for LagosState has been declared with the All Progressives Congress snatching victory in after an unusually keen contest. Akinwunmi Ambode of APC emerged as governor elect after defeating Mr Jimi Agbaje at the polls.
According to the returning officer in Lagos Ambode polled 811,994 votes to beat Agbaje who polled 659,788 votes.
In Bauchi, APC gubernatorial candidate, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, was on Sunday declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state after winning in 19 out of the 20 local government areas of the state.
Abubakar, a former National Commissioner in charge of Legal Services at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), according to the state Returning Officer, Professor Mohammed Kabir Faruq garnered a total of 654,934 votes to emerge the next governor of the state.
His strongest opponent, Honourable Mohammed Auwal Jatau of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) polled 282,650 votes to emerge second in the election.
On his way to the Government House on Yakubu Bauchi Road in the state capital, Abubakar even defeated the ruling PDP in the home local government of the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, Tafawa Balewa LGA and the home local government of the party’s candidate in Saturday’s election,Mohammed Auwal Jatau, Zaki LGA.
The governor-elect won in Alkaleri; Bauchi; Dass; Tafawa Balewa; Kirfi; Misau; Darazo; Katagum; Itas-Gadau; Toro; Ganjuwa; Dambam; Gamawa; Giade; Ningi; Jama’are; Shira; Warji and Zaki LGAs, while he lost in only Bogoro LGA.
