Amaechi Vows to Sustain Support For Nigeria Police

Rotimi-Amaechi 600Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has reiterated his administration’s support for the Nigeria Police as a strategic partner in restoring law and order in the State.

Governor Amaechi said this today during the launching of the Christian Police Chapel Building Fund organized by the Christian Police Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN) at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the Governor said “for the sacrifice officers and men of the Nigeria Police made in helping us fight criminality and restore law and order in the State when we came in we will continue to support them. Wherever we see the Police doing the right thing we will support them.

We were the first to send 300 policemen to Israel to undergo advanced security training and those policemen today constitute the backbone of the new Police Force that is able to fight crime effectively,” he stated.

The State Chief Executive, who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) pointed out that “this is the first time the Police is gathering to build for God and we want to reassure you that the Rivers State Government is your partner”.

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion and Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, represented by his deputy, Dr Pius Odubu, had praised the Nigeria Police for “the initiative of building a house for God,” noting that it is a noble objective that should be commended and supported, assuring them of his government’s support at all times.

In his speech, the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, represented by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in charge of “C” Department (Works), Mr. Emmanuel Udeoji, expressed delight in the project, pointing out that as part of efforts at tackling crime in the society it became vital that the policemen themselves should be given a platform to
draw closer to God, noting that this would help them imbibe the godly virtues needed in law enforcement officers, thanking the State Governors for their support.

In his sermon titled “Covenant of Blessings, the guest preacher, Evangelist Newman Eziogbo, emphasized that giving to support God’s wok carries its own blessings, urging all to dedicate their income and resources to the work of God on earth in order to reap innumerable blessings.

Speaking, Natiional Coordinator of the CPFN and Commissioner of Police in charge of Police Detective College, Enugu, Mr. Olatunji Caulrick, represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amos Ayase, thanked everyone for supporting the project, stressing that it would provide a conducive environment for the worship of God and the spiritual growth of Christian Policemen and women.
