Nigeria Can’t Break Up- Justice Belgore

belgoreA Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Retired Justice Alfa Modibbo Belgore, has observed that with the stability of Nigeria and its resources well channelled for her development, the country will be among the top ten world economies in the next ten years.

Retired Justice Alfa Belgore, who made the observation at the fifteenth annual dinner of the Third Estate, a Non-Governmental Organization, in Ilorin Kwara State said the country would not break up by 2015 despite some challenges confronting it.

The Retired Jurist who was the Chairman of the occasion, noted that there is no state in Nigeria without mineral resources, saying that the country was blessed with both human and natural resources.

He added that Nigerians were intelligent and creative, pointing out that they were capable of taking the country high by developing all the sectors of its economy.

Retired Justice Alfa Belgore, stressed the need for the unity of purpose and commitment of Nigerians towards the actualization of the nation’s nationalists dream.

The Former CJN, also sued for peace, tolerance, unity, dedication and commitment among Nigerians, appealing to them to desist from violence and killing of innocent people.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Third Estate, Dr Yusuf Lawal, assured that Third Estate would continue to support worthwhile projects and programmes for the benefit of the community.

While urging government to address unemployment and lack of access to tertiary education which he said are the major cankerworm bedevilling our nation, he called on security agencies to check the excesses of army of thugs and cultists who wreak havoc on innocent citizens and students in the communities and campuses.
