In continuation of the evacuation Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Yobe state, 88 additional IDPs were received at the Sokoto Rehabilitation Centre on Thursday, last week.
The Assistant Coordinator of the Sokoto Zonal Operations Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Thickman Tanimu disclosed on Sunday that of the 88 IDPs, 21 were indigenes of Zamfara state while the remaining 67 were those of Sokoto state.
He added that Zamfara state government had evacuated the 21 IDPs from the camp at the Sokoto Rehabilitation Centre in Kalambaina, Wamakko local government area of Sokoto state. “Sokoto state government is making preparations to evacuate the remaining 67 IDPs to their various towns and villages across the 23 local governments of the state.”
Tanimu added that one pregnant woman gave birth to a baby boy while on transit from Yobe two others could put to bed at anytime.
