NOA, Immigration to synergise against human trafficking

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Kwara and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kwara State Command have pledged to synergise against human trafficking in the state.

NOA Director, Kwara State, Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi, said this on Friday when he received the new Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kwara State Command, Comptroller CIS Iyabode Okuwa-Idris in his office in Ilorin.]

NOA State Director and the Comptroller discussed areas of collaboration between the two agencies, particularly in the campaign against human trafficking.

They also explored ways to strengthen their partnership in promoting national security, public awareness, and community engagement.

Comptroller Okuwa-Idris expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and commended the NOA for its efforts in sensitising the public on germane issues including the dangers of human trafficking.

She said the NIS was committed to combating human trafficking and other border crimes. We recognise the importance of inter-agency collaboration in achieving this goal.

The Comptroller further emphasised the need for public awareness and education in preventing human trafficking.

“Many victims of human trafficking are deceived and exploited due to lack of knowledge and awareness.

”We must work together to educate the public on the signs and consequences of human trafficking.” she said.

The NIS boss praised the NOA’s efforts in promoting national security and expressed her commitment to a fruitful partnership.

On his part, Adeyemi said the meeting was a significant step towards strengthening inter-agency collaboration in Kwara State. (NAN)
