About 37 federal agencies have been given  one week ultimatum  to submit their  2017 budgets  for consideration.

Nigeria’s Senate gave  ultimatum during  plenary  Wednesday following a Point of Order raised by Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan.

The lawmaker had  drawn the attention of  his colleagues  the failure of  the affected agencies to submit their budgets for  deliberation.

The affected agencies  include the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) , Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Nigeria Port Authority, NPA, NIMASA, CBN, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), National Maritime Authority (NMA), Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)among others.

While Lawan urged the agencies to submit their budgets before the Senators commence their annual recess, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu called on the affected agencies to comply with the law.

Senate President Bukola Saraki ruled that  affected agencies should submit their  budgets within one week so that they could be passed before the annual recess by the Senate commences.
