A 19-year-old man, Salami Tunde, was on Tuesday remanded in an Ilesa Prison custody by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osun, over alleged attempt to set a residential building ablaze.
Tunde is facing a count charge bordering on attempt to set residential building ablaze.
The defendant, who had no legal representative, pleaded guilty to the one count charge against him.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Olaiwola Rasaki, had told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Nov. 20, 2017 at about 3:00pm at Fiwasoye Area, Osogbo.
Rasaki said the defendant, who happened to be an occupant in the same building with one Shittu Muyibat, attempted to set her building ablaze due to a rancor between them.
He said the situation left Muyibat with severe injuries on her body before the intervention of the Police.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 335 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The Magistrate, Mr Ashiru Ayeni, ordered that the defendant be kept in prison custody and adjourned the case till Feb. 16, for ruling. (NAN)
