Maku condoles with NUJ over death of Aku

Information Minister Mr. Labaran Maku has condoled with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the death of a former President of the NUJ, Mr. Ndagene Aku.
In a letter to the President of the NUJ, Comrade Mohammed Garba,the Information Minister said the death of Mr. Aku at the prime age of 55, was a monumental loss to the journalism profession and the country in general.
Mr. Maku stated that the tenure of Mr. Aku as President of the NUJ between 2006 and 2009 was very successful particularly in bringing peace to some state chapters of the Union.
He described the deceased as a patriot, who committed himself to promoting peace and development in the country through his chosen profession.
The Minister urged members of the NUJ not to be discouraged by the unfortunate and untimely death of Mr. Aku but to remain focused in the discharge of their mandate as a mark of honour for deceased.
Mr. Maku prayed God to comfort the family of the deceased and the entire members of the NUJ and grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
