Flood Disaster:TUC Seeks Support for State Govts,Victims



The  Trade Union Congress Nigeria (TUC) South-South Forum has called on public spirited organizations, companies and civil society organizations lend support state governments and this year’s unprecedented flood.

In a statement  Comrades Chika Onuegbu and Ifreke S. Akpan,chairman and secretary respectively, the Congress said “We note that the severity, spread and impact the flood is unprecedented in the history the region and therefore appeal all corporate bodies, trade unions, civil society groups, faith –based organizations and well meaning individuals support the various State government and assist the the flood disaster making donations and volunteering themselves, their goods and their services so as provide succour the of the flood disaster.

“We would however like to also appeal that this is a time to apportion blames or howsoever politicize the flood disaster.  It is rather a time for service and dedication -a time to truly be our brothers keepers. It is a time for all hands to be on deck so that collectively we can give the best to our brothers and sisters who are the victims the flood disaster.

“To this end, we request all TUC affiliate-unions in the region to visit the camps set up in their respective states for the flood victims and support the efforts of their states and local.”

FLOOD DISASTER: PASSIONATE APPEAL FOR UNDERSTANDING AND SUPPORT TO THE GOVERNMENTS AND VICTIMS

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) South-South Forum Commiserate with the State Governments and the people of the South-South geopolitical zone over the severe flood that has ravaged the region.

We note that the severity, spread and impact of the flood is unprecedented in the history of the region and therefore appeal to all corporate bodies, trade unions, civil society groups, faith –based organizations and well meaning individuals to support the various State government and assist the victims of the flood disaster making donations and volunteering themselves, their goods and their services so as to provide succour to the victims of the flood disaster.

We would however like to also appeal that this is a time to apportion blames or howsoever politicize the flood disaster.  It is rather a time for service and dedication -a time to truly be our brothers keepers. It is a time for all hands to be on deck so that collectively we can give the best to our brothers and sisters who are the victims of the flood disaster.
