Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been released from detention after 15 hours of questioning at the headquarters of Department of State Security, otherwise called SSS.
Muyiwa Adekeye, the former minister’s media advisor announced in a tweet Tuesday morning that “Mallam Nasir El Rufai left the SSS premises at 12:35 am today after more than 15 hours.”
El –Rufai surrendered himself to the SSS in a rather dramatic fashion on Monday after the seemingly elaborate manhunt for him by the agency since Friday last week.
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State along with Senator Chris Ngige were part of the All Progressives Congress,APC delegation that accompanied the ex minister to the SSS.El Rufai is the deputy national secretary of APC.
But El Rufai and the SSS are no strangers to each other.Prior to this incident, the former minister was detained in Awka during the last Anambra elections.
His views in his popular but now rested El Rufai on Friday column , Thisday put him on repeated collision course with the agency. That was hard on the heels of return from late Umaru YarAdua -induced exile .
His latest invitation by the SSS came on the heels of his reported warning that there could be violence if the 2015 elections were rigged.
