Zamfara APC chairman wins state assembly seat

The Zamfara Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Lawal Liman has been declared winner of the Kaura-Namoda North State Assembly  seat.

The INEC Returning Officer, Dr Abbas Dahiru while declaring the result in Kaura-Namoda on Sunday, said that Liman scored 23,582 votes to defeat his closest opponent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Zaharadeen Sada, who scored 7,827 votes.

Dahiru said the total accredited voters for the election were 35,073, total votes cast,  33,307, valid votes 32,131 and total rejected votes as 1,177.

He said, “Alhaji Lawal Liman, having satisfied the requirements and scored the highest votes in the election, is declared  winner of the Kaura-Namoda north state assembly seat.”

Responding to newsmen after the announcement, Liman thanked God who inspired his life to participate in the election and for the victory.

He described the victory as that  of all APC supporters in the state.

He promised to provide good representation for the constituency  and contribute to the development of the state.

Meanwhile,  another APC candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Kurya also won Kaura-Namoda South State House of Assembly seat with 15,192 votes against the PDP candidate, Anas Sarkin-Fada who scored 6,633 votes.

Reacting to the victory,  the senator for Zamfara North Constituency, Alhaji Tijjani Yahaya thanked the  people of the area for voting APC candidates.

He said the victory of the party indicated that, people of the state are with APC.

“It is impressive, despite the challenges in the party in the state, it recorded great victory in both presidential and national assembly, governorship and state house of assembly elections,” he said. (NAN)
