The Asagba of Asaba, Obi Epiphany Azinge, has urged Sen. Ned Nwoko (PDP-Delta), to use his position to attract more federal presence to Asaba, saying he carried the aspirations of Anioma people.

The Asagba said this during a courtesy visit by Nwoko who represents Delta North Senatorial District.

This is contained in a statement issued by the lawmaker in Abuja on Monday.

“Your dedication and strategic vision resonate deeply with us. Your push for a Federal University in Asaba aligns with our dreams and is a worthy goal.

“Asaba remains the only state capital in Nigeria without a Federal University.

“Achieving this dream will be a profound tribute to our ancestors and the memories of those lost in the tragic events of October 7, 1967,’’ he said.

The Asagba emphasised the importance of a Federal University in Asaba, as well as supporting the upgrade of the Federal College of Education in Asaba to a university.

The traditional ruler assured Nwoko that the Asaba throne was firmly behind him in his political activities and ambition, saying he carried the hopes of Anioma people.

He commended Nwoko’s efforts in water, electricity, and other critical projects.

He further commended the lawmaker’s ability to bridge political divides, acknowledging his skills in building alliances across party lines.

“Sen. Nwoko, you are a man of class, a go-getter, and a champion for Anioma. May your path remain blessed as you bring our shared dreams closer to reality,’’ he said.

Earlier, Nwoko highlighted his commitment to the creation of Anioma State, reiterating his confidence in the Federal Government’s support for the goal.

He also reiterated his dedication to unifying the constituents across social and political divides.

He also provided updates on his infrastructure efforts, focusing on critical projects like the Ogwashi-Uku Dam and Okpai electricity initiatives.

He said he was in dialogue with federal authorities to secure the step-down of power for Okpai and to advance water treatment at the Ogwashi-Uku Dam.

“Our efforts for Anioma State creation are strengthened by your wise counsel,” Nwoko said. (NAN)
