More revelations have continued to trail the botched attempt to resolve the factional crisis that hit Peoples Democratic Party,PDP last week.A day after some governors walked out of the Eagle Square Abuja venue of the party’s Special Convention ,a meeting was held in Abuja with President Jonathan, some PDP governors including the ‘rebels’ in attendance. Also at the meeting were party chiefs like BoT Chairman Chief Tony Anenih.
Newsdiaryonline.com learnt that the meeting which was meant to resolve the crisis sadly became a platform where the main bone of contention:the battle for the 2015 presidency created further hiatus between the president and the “dissidents”.
In fact, reliable sources revealed to Newsdiaryonline.com that the meeting degenerated into another bout of crisis when Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso confronted President Goodluck Jonathan over the issue of his 2015 re-election bid.Kwankwaso ,according to one source ,confronted the president with the fact that he had given the impression earlier that he would not run ,but now Jonathan is working towards the 2015 race.He listed this among the causes of friction in the party.
President Jonathan was said to have reacted angrily to Kwankwaso’s utterances and asked equally angrily something like ‘ is that why you people are doing this?’ The president pointedly told the governors at the meeting that he would indeed run 2015, apparently to show he cannot be intimidated.
He also said some unprintable things angrily and stormed out of the meeting.Insiders said now, all the governors at the meeting now know that indeed the president will run.He told them so,one of the sources said.
